ROLL YOUR OWN TOBACCO

AULD KENDAL

First introduced in the early 1990’s, Gawith Hoggarth Auld Kendal hand rolling tobacco is known for its smooth and rich flavour profile.

Our Auld Kendal range of hand rolling tobacco goes through a similar process to our pipe tobacco, with the carefully selected high quality leaf being conditioned through steaming, then allowed to rest overnight, before being cut into fine ribbons and then roasted. The tobacco is then cooled in a cooling chamber, where any flavouring is added to the final blend. It is then allowed to sit and rest of 24 hours, before being hand packed.

We select high grade long leaves and oversee the whole process manually from start to finish to ensure a unique smoking experience for the smoker who prefers to roll his or her own tobacco. Available in gold (light), mixed (medium) and dark (strong) and can be scented with various flavours if permissible.

PUEBLO

Produced by Pöschl Tabak in Germany, a family run company operating since 1902. Gawith's have always had a close working relationship with Pöschl, especially the third generation—Dr. Robert Engels and Dr. Ernst Pöschl, with whom John and Irene Gawith were good friends. Now run by Dr Engels' son, Patrick who joined in 2006 and Katharina Pöschl, daughter of Dr. Ernst Pöschl, who came on board in 2012.

Pueblo is completely additive free and only has water added during the production process. It has become the best-selling rolling tobacco in Germany and Europe in the “additive-free fine-cut” segment since its market introduction.

The raw tobacco leaves are weighed out and blended according to carefully developed recipes. The leaves are then moistened in a vacuum chamber with steam and heat, leaving the leaves more supple and abled to be processed. The leaf is then put onto the feeder, weighed and then passed through another steam tunnel before going into the casing drum. Here only water is added as Pueblo is 100% additive free. The tobacco is then put into mixing boxes, conveyed to the cutting machine and then the cut tobacco is fed into the dryer, where the excess water is removed and it is then cooled on a cooling belt. It is then packed on fully automated lines.

Pueblo is a traditional blend made from premium quality Virginias. There are no humectants, flavourings or preservatives used in processing, only water. Pueblo classic is a medium strength rolling tobacco, whilst Pueblo blue is a milder version.
